Spring is upon us which means it is time to open those windows and start fresh. Sometimes all it takes is refreshing your living space with spring cleaning and redecorating to reinvigorate your mind. Here are some tips to revitalize your space.
Make a Cleaning List
It may be overwhelming to think about everything that needs to get done around the house. Make a list and try cleaning room by room so the tasks spread out over the coming months. By making a list, you are categorizing priority projects and making the tasks much more manageable over time.
Start With a Visually Stimulating Project First
Don’t worry about starting the bigger projects first, such as a new paint job, or a bathroom remodel. In fact, the sight of a new fresh space may be a visual motivator to tackle less satisfactory projects such as cleaning the gutters or shampooing the carpets.
A cluttered room leaves a cluttered mind. Clear out the mail that is piling up on the side table and clean out the food in the pantry that is past the expiration date. Minimizing the clutter allows you to optimize your space. Sort your clutter into four categories- trash, give away, store, or put away.
Redecorate Your Living Space
If your space feels stale, it may be time to give it a makeover. Try adding a fresh coat of paint, add new furniture pieces or décor. A fresh new space livens up the home and reinvigorates the mind. So, find inspiration online and add new curtains, hang new pictures or whatever helps change the aesthetic.
Create a New Bedroom
Your sleep space must be a place of tranquility and a refuge from the stresses of daily life. If you are not sensing this, it’s time to change it up a bit to promote that aesthetic. Find a dim light that soothes and colors that promote calmness. And create a relaxing environment with a mattress that is the right fit, a pillow that cradles your head, and sheets that are to your preference.
Clear Out Your Closet
Comb through your clothes and banish the ones you don’t ever wear. A newly organized closet gives the feeling of an impressive new wardrobe, further refreshing your body and soul. Bonus, clearing up space gives way for additional pieces.
Don’t Try to Do It All at Once
Your long list of chores may seem daunting, and you may want to get it all done in one go. But this can create burnout. Instead, break it up into blocks of time, a few a week, or whenever you can set aside time.
